Manifesto
Dearest Neighbors and Friends,
It is with solemn humility and deepest appreciation that I accept the position of Geneva Convention Block Captain.
With the sweat of my brow and the acumen gained from what feels like two lifetimes in middle management, I shall endeavor to honor the office with every fiber of my being. I shall toil for you, I shall suffer for you, and together, with the grace and courage inherent in our proud Neighborhood, we shall maintain and cultivate this greatness we’ve achieved through our many years of hard work and splendorous friendship and continue onward to The Future.
Most importantly, I shall always be mindful to respect and to capitalize upon the profound and far-reaching work of my predecessor; for without Jane’s dedication, we would not be the Beacon of Light; The City Upon The Hill; The Kickass ‘Hood that we are today.
In these desperate times, the struggle for justice, equality, and the Genevian Way have never been more important, nor more endangered. We must strive to maintain an inclusive, positive and festive atmosphere for ourselves, our families, and our posterity, for the actions of today are the realities of tomorrow.
I offer myself to you, Geneva Convention, as a servant, a worker, a leader.
First, I’ll go and buy a captain’s hat, something regal, but not too flashy. And I’d prefer to be addressed as “Oh Captain, My Captain.” (Or in informal settings, “Mon Capitain” or “El Capitan.”)
Also, I’ll go to the next Block Captain meeting, then forward any notes and updates to The Neighborhood.
With Great Appreciation, I Remain,
El Capitan Joseph D. Trussell,
Geneva Convention
